“The Glasite Meeting House is a unique venue to watch classic and cult films. Bring a cushion, grab a drink and enjoy a community cinema experience like no other!”

– Local Resident

Housed in the beautiful Glasite Meeting House, the New Town Pop-Up Cinema is Edinburgh's newest (and most relaxed!) film screening space open to the public. Showing classic, cult and foreign films fortnightly on a Friday, attendees are encouraged to grab a nibble or a drink upstairs and settle into the splendour of watching a movie in a historic building. On that note, the exhibition space has pews for seating, so it is recommended to bring a cushion for longer feature films.

The community cinema is funded in the short term by the Scottish Historic Buildings Trust with the hope that the community will make it self sufficent through ticket sales and drinks purchases or even sponsorship. The cinema equipment is hired weekly, licences bought for the building and per film and the building is given free of charge. All money raised from the cinema goes towards future events and towards building restoration in the future.

The Glasite Meeting House is a category A-listed former place of worship run for the community by the Scottish Historic Buildings Trust. The trust
